Meet the Greeters!

Who are the Marseille Provence Greeters?

They are one of a kind!

Marseille-Provence is home to a joyous band of 40 Greeters and Gabians*, who love their city and love introducing visitors to Marseille’s 111 quarters completely free of charge.

More than just a genuinely alternative tourism concept, based on a free, voluntary service and the desire to promote cultural exchanges, Marseille Provence Greeters aims to create ties between Marseille, its inhabitants and visitors, meaning locals get to see the city through new eyes and visitors get to enjoy an enriching and genuine travel experience!

The Greeter walks are a new way to explore Marseille and discover a different kind of tourism.

Greeters, greeters everywhere!

The Greeters concept was born 20 years ago in New York. But believe it or not, France is where you’ll find the most Greeters today! It’s a bit like having family in every country. Look…

The worldwide Greeter commitment

Greeters are volunteers who promise our visitors a friendly welcome.

Greeters welcome individuals and groups of up to 6 people.

Greeter walks are free of charge.

Greeters welcome everyone, without discrimination.

The Greeter network is committed to sustainable tourism that respects people and the environment. Greeters help enrich the culture and economy of local communities by contributing to the destination’s positive image.

The Greeter network promotes mutual enrichment and cultural exchanges between individuals to foster a better world.

The walk was fantastic, I felt so happy all morning. Max’s route was filled with surprises: a succession of gorgeous, little-known streets and addresses off the beaten track – I would never have found them without him. The explanations and anecdotes were plentiful too… Max knows Marseille like the back of his hand!! Emilie
